CEVR’s Specialty Drug Database Provides Insight Into Commercial Health Plans

The Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health (CEVR) at Tufts Medical Center has established the Specialty Drug Evidence and Coverage (SPEC) Database. This tool includes extensive information detailing how healthcare plans cover nearly 300 specialty drugs. The database includes approximately 25,000 decisions and information on diseases ranging from cancer to rheumatoid arthritis.
“The SPEC database includes detailed information on how commercial health plans cover specialty drugs and products (including cell and gene therapies), and on the evidence that plans cite in their coverage policies. SPEC will soon be updated with coverage policies through April 2021.” Read more here.
