June 8, 2022

Health Affairs is seeking submissions for its March 2023 journal focusing on the lessons that can be gleaned from changes public health policy and practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the journal requests papers examining the effect of public health policy through comparative analysis of health systems and state/local jurisdictions. Manuscripts must be submitted by September 19th, 2022.

According to, “We will consider original research articles, case studies, commentary, and analyses, and we invite submissions from practitioners and other professionals working outside of traditional public health. Papers that document strategies for reducing health inequities are also encouraged. While we are primarily interested in studies of domestic policies and programs, we will consider international studies with broad applicability. Papers should describe major themes and lessons from the public health response to COVID-19. In addition to retrospective analyses, we will consider a small number of empirically-based “agenda-setting” articles that identify policy priorities for strengthening the US public health system going forward.”
