Blue Shield of California recently announced a program which could help trim costs for members and payers, MMIT reports.
The Gemini Drug-Cost Transparency Service is designed to show physicians alternative, low-cost drug options and allow them to compare prices.
Developed by Gemini Health, the program uses the health care provider’s electronic health records.
“Prescribers continue to use their EHR software with little change in workflow,” Blue Shield of California Director of Pharmacy Programs Salina Wong says. “Drug costs and alternatives surface automatically as they enter new prescription drug orders and do not impede completing prescription orders as intended.”
