Biden’s SOTU Will Likely Not Focus on Drug Pricing

Although he will touch on the topic, it is unlikely that drug pricing reform will be central to President Biden’s State of the Union address tonight. The White House released a preview indicating that drug pricing will be a piece of a more extensive discussion about the economy, which looms large over the embattled administration.

According to Politico, “PhRMA is already circulating talking points. The lobby for brand drug manufacturers on Monday proactively tried to counter what will likely be a familiar call by Biden for Congress to allow Medicare to negotiate the price of expensive drugs.”
