JAMA published the long-awaited Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure-8 (JNC-8)guidelines December 18, 2013. In this article, David Cundiff, MD calls for states that the JNC-8 authors ignored evidence and have put forth guidelines that are not endorsed by any other authoritative body and calls for a retraction of the guidelines.
