The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy is offering its “Fundamentals of Managed Care Pharmacy Certificate Program” in an on-demand format.
The course, which has been repurposed to serve as an online certificate program, introduces participants to the fundamentals and basic concepts in managed care pharmacy.
According to the course website, participants will “explore key aspects of managed care pharmacy.” The package offers four focused content areas: Medicare Part D, Medicaid, Affordable Care Act and Quality Ratings.
AMCP says participants upon completion of the program should be able to, among other things:
- Outline the evolution of managed care in the United States;
- Identify and describe key managed care entities, including plan sponsors, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, point-of-service plans, high-deductible health plans, and pharmacy benefit management companies;
- Discuss common strategies used to manage the cost of medications and demand for medications in a pharmacy benefit; and
- Recognize how various drug cost and utilization management strategies can be combined to design a customized pharmacy benefit.
The certificate program is set to expire July 25, 2019.
