Amazon began selling the line of medications called Basic Care in August. The line includes some 60 items produced by Perrigo exclusively for the tech giant.
According to a Retail Dive report, the company has been granted regulatory green lights from numerous states to participate as a pharmacy wholesale distributor.
“Amazon wants to be part of everyone’s daily expenditures,” Magid Retail Senior Vice President Matt Sargent said in an interview with Retail Dive. “Grocery is the current focus of their attention, but healthcare spending is another very large pocket of spending that Amazon has its eye on.”
