Amazon Launches Silent Healthcare Coup

In addition to its major market positions in logistics and cloud storage, Amazon is making quiet forays into healthcare. Although some analysts may have overstated the impact Amazon would have on the healthcare market, Amazon is still making healthcare a big part of its agenda with the following healthcare ventures:

Pillpack— a consumer prescription delivery model.

Amazon Care— a virtual health program offering telehealth visits and in-person follow-up care to a subset of Seattle headquarter employees.

Haven–Amazon Care’s primary care clinics

Amazon Comprehend Medical–Comprehend Medical, an outgrowth of AWS, is a natural language processing and artificial intelligence (AI) service.

Bryan Niehaus, vice president of healthcare consulting firm Advis remarked, “They’re learning about the healthcare industry and picking their spots on where to get involved. Some areas might be disruptive, some are extensions of their current business.” Find out more here.
