The Journal of Clinical Pathways (JCP) recently discussed the clinical and pharmacy burden of outcomes-based contracts with value-based pricing expert Omar Ali.
One of the main issues in outcomes-based contracting, Ali said during the interview, are the administrative and logistical complexities involved.
“Administrative burden is often a barrier for what could be a very intriguing innovative payment-based contract or outcomes-based contract,” Ali said. “As scalability of value-based agreements becomes a key objective for the next phases of these outcomes-based contracts, we are seeing assessment and planning for this administrative workload and who is best suited to do this.”
