ACR Tapped as Imaging Partner for COVID-19 Registry

June 25, 2020

The Society of Clinical Care Medicine (SCCM) has chosen the American College of Radiology (ACR) to be the main imaging repository for a COVID-19 registry.

The Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study (VIRUS) registry is part of an initiative aimed at developing a real-time registry of “ICU and health care patterns,” according to a press release.

“We are excited to support this effort to enhance the quality, safety and effectiveness of patient care during this public health crisis,” ACR Chief Research Officer Etta Pisano said in a statement. “The utilization of both clinical and imaging data is likely to be very important in monitoring and predicting the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly as it affects rural America in the months ahead.”
