American College of Physicians Backs Medicare for All

The nation’s second-largest doctors group, the American College of Physicians (ACP), is officially endorsing Medicare for All and a public option as a means to achieve universal health coverage, The Hill reports.

ACP’s position comes as much of the health care industry has pushed against Medicare for All, including the American Medical Association.

“Currently, the United States is the only wealthy industrialized country that has not achieved universal health coverage,” ACP said in a paper. “The nation’s existing health care system is inefficient, unaffordable, unsustainable, and inaccessible to many.”
