Marcus Wilson
What is your HE-Artist talent or skill? Please describe.
Music – specifically playing guitar.
How long have you been doing this?
I have been playing around with the guitar for 8 years and have been playing rhythm guitar in a band for 5 years.
What makes you love doing this?
I would have to say that playing music is a more rewarding experience than I could have imagined. It brings out a part of you that nothing else can quite do. Playing with a group of people that you love to share time with is icing on the cake. Our band, The Usual Suspects, is fairly large (10) and is made up of friends, family and co-workers from HealthCore. Whether for practice or a gig, getting together with this group of individuals is something I always look forward to. It is a tremendous release of the daily stresses of life.
What is your current job?
President of HealthCore.
How long have you been working in the field of health economics and outcomes research?
Around 20 years.
And now a few questions just for fun!
- What was your favorite food when you were a child?
Peanut butter, hands down. - What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod or musical device?
High in the Morning off of Tom Petty’s Mojo album. - What sound do you love?
Musical? A great blues riff from Joe Bonamassa or Jonny Lang. Any other sound? Easy, laughter. - If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?
Well, that’s a tricky one. We do throw an annual summer party at our home each year with friends, neighbors, family and HealthCore associates. We have great food, plenty of drink (including home brews from many of our staff), live music (not hard to guess who this is), ice cream brought in by the local creamery and swimming other games for the kids. If I could add the Eagles as our warm up band that would make it perfect. - If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
This one is really tough. There are some many dimensions to life where great mentorship could have an impact. I guess I would have to pick Nelson Mandela. His passion, dedication, determination, commitment and leadership are exemplary. - If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would that be?
The end of childhood cancer. - If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
Abraham Lincoln. - What was the first thing you bought with your own money?
A wristwatch.
