What is your HE-Artist talent or skill? Please describe.
Competitive International Latin dancer.
How long have you been doing this?
Why did you start doing this?
I have always admired dancers and wanted to be one of them. When I moved to the East coast in 2008, I needed to establish a new network of friends. So, I decided that “now” was as a good a time as any to take dance lessons. Quickly, I realized how wonderful the music and movement of dance made me feel. As I watched a group of women preparing for a competition, I decided, I must do this too!! It was a way to express my creativity that I had never done in the past. In
December of 2009, I entered my first competition, the Holiday Classic at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. When I won 3rd place in my cha cha, rumba and samba, I was ecstatic and shocked with disbelief! I never looked back. Since my first bronze level competition, I have advanced through the silver and gold closed syllabus and now dance in the open level. Currently, I am preparing for a competition this fall where I will dance the cha cha, rumba, samba, paso doble and jive. I never thought this would be me in a million years, but it is! Dancing has changed my life for the better in more ways that can be explained in words.
