Utah Flies Public Workers to Mexico for Cheaper Drugs

February 12, 2020

Utah is taking drastic steps to cut down on health costs by flying public workers to Mexico for cheaper prescription drugs, the Associated Press reports.

According to the report, about 10 state workers are participating in the program, which launched about a year ago.

Ann Lovell, a 62-year-old teacher, told AP she would not be able to afford her medicine without the program.

“This is the drug that keeps me functioning, working,” she said. “I think if I wasn’t on this drug … I’d be on disability rather than living my normal life.”
