President Donald Trump this week reiterated his promise to lower prescription drug prices, saying his White House would be announcing new measures in roughly a month, according to a Reuters’ report.
Trump spoke during an event in Manchester, New Hampshire, focused on the nation’s opioid crisis.
“If you compare our drug prices to other countries in the world, in some cases it’s many times higher for the exact same pill or whatever it is, in the exact same package made in the exact same plant,” Trump said. “We’re going to change that.
“We’re driving ’em down,” he added.
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, former Eli Lilly president, said the proposals would be centered around cutting drug prices and shifting discounts from middlemen to the consumer.
