House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s chief adviser, Wendell Primus, Monday during a recent event called on insurers to take on the pharmaceutical industry as he pitched Pelosi’s new drug pricing proposal, according to a Healthcare Dive report.
“I have no reason to underestimate the influence of pharma in this town, and they are going to work very hard to defeat this bill,” Primus said before the conference.
PhRMA’s Jennifer Bryant, however, stood firm against the bill, warning against giving the government too much authority.
“The thing that is astounding to me is why AHIP is not leading the charge for an alternative,” she said. “I don’t know why AHIP has laid down arms.”
