NPR health policy reporter Selena Simmons-Duffin in a recent interview discussed potentially-confusing vocabulary in the “Medicare for All” movement.
Simmons-Duffin says she reached out to Kaiser Family Foundation’s Liz Hamel, who said people have some misconceptions about frequently-used vocabulary around Medicare for All.
“We asked people, have you ever heard the term single-payer,” Hamel said. “Do you think it means the same thing as Medicare for All? And pretty universally, people say, no, that doesn’t sound like the same thing as Medicare for All.”
