The latest report from MedPAC to Congress on Medicare policy and payment issues brings a 70-page overview of the local and national coverage determinations.
Medicare policy expert Bruce Quinn with Discoveries in Health Policy says the latest chapter provides insight into “low-value care” and how the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services might develop new tools to address those concerns.
“All the familiar topics old and new are described, including differences between LCDs and NCDs, Medicare’s variable use of Coverage with Evidence Development, Parallel Review, and attempts to bring more cost-effectiveness into Medicare decisions,” Quinn writes.
