The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is expanding its innovation accelerator network as it welcomes five new accelerators, Fierce Healthcare reports.
The new accelerators are Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology, Plug and Play Tech Center, University of Missouri Midwest BioAccelerator, University Enterprise Labs and gener8tor, and Purdue University.
According to the report, the network invests in startups small and startup companies to address pressing security needs. The program was unveiled in 2018 by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response.
“In the first year, our accelerator network reached audiences outside of normal government channels, fostering innovative solutions to improve national health security and to provide business expertise and laboratory space for startups and small businesses,” ASPR Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority’s Rick Bright said in a statement.
