Health Analyst: U.S. Health System Deeply Flawed

While the U.S. health care system is “admirable” in a number of ways, including key innovations in medicines and procedures, it ultimately is a deeply flawed system, health care analyst Joshua Cohen writes in a recent article published on Forbes.

Despite massive health care spending, Cohen writes, the U.S. ranks toward the bottom in life expectancy.

“In 1980, life expectancy at birth in the U.S. was comparable to many (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries,” he writes. “However, since then, the U.S. has added only 4.6 years of life expectancy, while OECD nations have gained 7.9 years on average.”
