Freelance Medical Writer Debra Gordon poured her thoughts in a blog post on the Republican’s latest attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Gordon says in her post the Graham-Cassidy health care proposal is focused on “decimating a 50-year-old program” responsible for providing care options for poor and elderly Americans.
“It is about stripping away an individual’s ability to buy affordable health insurance even if they have a pre-existing condition,” she writes.
The proposal’s funding model, which relies on state block grants, is also a source of contention for Gordon. She says the GOP’s “pathetic reasoning” is to ensure “states are best prepared to decide how to manage health care within their own borders.”
