The 7th annual Forbes Healthcare Summit brought a dynamic conversation about the state of pharmaceuticals, drug pricing and innovation, BioSpace reports.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ Jeffrey Leiden said it’s imperative that companies consider the entire “$3 trillion system” and search for important answers regarding value, investments and innovation.
Drug pricing took center stage during the event, however, as billionaire John D. Arnold shifted some blame to U.S. legislators who have not sufficiently responded to rising drugs costs.
“We live in a country where policy and politics are linked,” he said. “And in healthcare policy, it’s joined at the hip to politics.”
