Seema Verma, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) administrator, is set on helping bring about a health care system devoted to value and transparency, the American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC) reports.
CMS under Verma has pushed to improve data sharing in the health care industry. The agency was responsible for the Medicare Blue Button 2.0 program and a total overhaul of the EHR Incentive Programs, according to the report.
“Our current healthcare system is complex, opaque, and difficult to navigate for patients,” Verma tells AJMC. “Empowering patients starts with giving them better access to their own personal health data.”
