CMS Chief Talks Health Policy, ‘Medicare for All’ Proposals

January 20, 2020

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma sat down with Kaiser Health News to discuss the administration’s roadmap for public health insurance programs and new “Medicare for All” proposals.

KHN’s Sarah Varney asked Verma about the Medicaid enrollment process, and whether the intense verification process might “discourage” some eligible people from signing up.

” … Our top priority is making sure that the beneficiaries in the Medicaid program have high-quality, accessible care, and we want to do everything that we can to improve the quality of their lives,” Verma said. “In terms of the enrollment process, we also have an obligation to taxpayers to make sure that only the people that qualify for the programs are participating.”
