Bloomberg News has published a live pricing index for some of the most used and popular drugs across the globe as it attempts to measure the success of President Donald Trump’s effort to cut drug prices.
According to Bloomberg, the index includes prices for 40 common drugs in six different categories: diabetes, cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and autoimmune diseases. The drugs are compared over a three-year stretch.
“Bloomberg News will update these indexes periodically throughout the year s prices change,” the report states. “Drug companies regularly increase prices often at the beginning of each year, and often mid-year as well.”
The indexes begin when Trump announced his candidacy for president in June 2015, according to the report, shortly before Martin Shkreli ignited a scandal over drug prices.
