A bill introduced Wednesday by House Democrats would allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices, according to a report by The Hill.
While President Donald Trump had originally expressed support for allowing Medicare to negotiate prices, he did not include it in his drug pricing blueprint his administration released in May.
“This bill calls the president’s bluff on his drug pricing promise,” Rep. Lloyd Doggett, a lead sponsor of the bill alongside Reps. Peter Welch and Elijah Cummings.
The bill, Doggett says, would help lay the groundwork for a more concentrated push next session if Democrats take over the House in the upcoming November elections.
The bill has more than 60 Democratic cosponsors, according to The Hill.
