Kantar Health Russia Building an International Market of the Future

The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world by area, spreading east from Europe across Asia to the Pacific Ocean. However, its population has been declining since the fall of the Soviet Union in the 1990s. The falling population has been attributed to the combined effects a relatively low birth rate and a relatively high death rate. Life expectancy for men is only 62 years, which is low among industrialized nations (by
comparison, life expectancy among US men is 76 years).

In December 2011 Russia finally – after 18 years – became a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which will allow greater and more diverse trade between Russia and the rest of the world. Analysts believe Russia’s ascension to the WTO will improve its business environment as it will have to import rules to address foreign investors’ concerns about corruption.
