IBI, Integrated Benefits Institute, surveyed 450 employers to detail the prevalence of health and productivity management (HPM) efforts and interventions, employers' plans over the next two years, goals for these programs, the measurements used to assess key program outcomes and their view of how well HPM initiatives are meeting their desired goals.
This calculator estimates overall absence-related lost-productivity costs for a specific occupation group in your company, such as salespersons, nurses, or engineers. In order to estimate the cost of absences, we need to determine the appropriate absence "multiplier" for the specific occupation group. An absence multiplier monetizes the productivity loss associated with an absence.
IBI discusses employers’ views on the relative success of their HPM practices in meeting their health-related goals. Generally, employers report their important HPM practices have a positive effect on HPM goals. HPM practices have the highest impact in reducing sick-day/disability absence outcomes, followed by reductions in medical/pharmacy costs. (Source:IBI Research, July 2010)
