Results Available: Survey #2 Observational Research

J. Trotter and HealthEconomics.Com Partner to Release Results from 2nd in a Series: Global Survey of Observational Research.
Jeff Trotter, Executive VP of PharmaNet, has released the results of Survey #2 on Observational Research, a semi-annual multi-country survey conducted with readers of HealthEconomics.Com. As a follow-up to Survey #1 conducted in Spring 2009 (results available on HealthEconomics.Com here: http://www.healtheconomics.com/readNewsletter.cfm?nlid=31), the current survey assessed job function of those conducting observational research; terminology; study purpose; process for study design, implementation, funding, and RFP solicitation; vendor selection; general concerns; and future trends. Among the 198 responders, 18% had completed the first survey. The survey results suggest that observational research means different things to different people, resulting in varied, multiple, or ill-defined study objectives. Study design and implementation challenges are common. Trends over time indicate an increased (but gradual) comfort and involvement in observational research. Full results of Survey #2 will be on HealthEconomics.Com shortly, but to get a copy in the interim email Jeff at jtrotter@pharmanet.com

Jeff Trotter is one of the preeminent leaders in late-phase observational research, and he is available to present the results of both Survey #1 and #2 to your organization. Many of you expressed interest in helping to co-author a manuscript describing these surveys and their findings. Jeff is also requesting brief anecdotes and/or case studies reflecting your experience with observational research, to bring to life the survey findings. Email Jeff to schedule an on-site presentation or to contribute insights. For additional resources, articles, and vendors involved in observational research, visit HealthEconomics.Com and use the Search feature.
